Ultralight Backpacking Canister Camp Stove with Piezo Ignition 3.9oz!

Customer Reviews

I was in the market for new equipment for boundary waters canoe area trips and this stove caught my eye. This thing is about the size of a flip cell phone and weighs about the same too inside of it's carry case!
I hooked it up at home the first day I recieved it and was wondering if the arms could hold anything up... I took a pan and of course it stood there just fine, then I took a GIANT pot of chili as a joke and tried to stand it on there.. Lets just say about a gallon of chili in a large pot will boil in about a minute and 30 seconds with this stove if you want it to..
The flame can be varied from a small flame you might need to make sunny side up eggs perfectly, to a blazing inferno that can probably power a hot air balloon (or boil water in the morning asap (about a minute or less at sea level)). This is for people who need coffee before their tempers catch up to them in the morning for sure.
Auto ignition on this thing works perfectly but of course I will be bringing matches just in case. The flame on this thing is pretty much wind proof. I am sure any person with common sense would be sure to find a spot between a few logs or something where you can block the wind or even put tinfoil around the unit to avoid using excess gas, but if you were stuck on top of a mountain and the wind was blowing 40 mph you could still manage to start this thing up and cook something if you had to.
I went on a week long trip and brought 3 gas canisters with 4 oz a piece. I only used 1 can for 2 meals a day and extra coffee once a day on that week but knowing a fire ban might pop up out of no where I brought extra becuase I don't wanna be rockin an illegal fire!
I give this thing a 5 out of 5 stars because I can't find anything to complain about with this stove. The other person who reviewed it and talks about unscrewing the body to move the arms doesn't seem to be the problem with this stove. The arms spin around the body and lock in tightly after moving into position, they then unlock flawlessly and back into compact mode as long as you don't throw it at a rock I guess...
Update: This stove rocks! Hope they get more in stock!

From the item description "These stoves wok with any screw top butane / propane canisters, available just about anywhere, MSR, coleman, camping gaz, etc. "
The problem is this stove doesn't work with these. I really do not know what it works with, but nothing available at Wally World. I am giving it 3 stars because it does appear to be a solid unit based upon look and feel, but the item description had me thinking I could use the same propane I use with other, larger camp stoves for car camping.
How would I as a first time buyer of a small, lightweight stove know this when the item description plainly says it works with Coleman canisters when it does not?
Edit: I am adjusting my review from 3 star to 5 star since another Amazon shopper pointed me to the isobutane/propane mix fuel canisters as the right type for this stove and I got to try it out a couple times. It works better than I expected. I used it with some backpacking cooking gear and it boiled 2 cups of water in a few minutes (I didn't time it), it easily adjusts from a low simmer flame to a loud and roaring flame thrower and everything in between. The area to set cookware on is not large, but it has teeth that grabber the bottom of the pot I used well.
Considering the tiny size, tiny weight, tiny price and nice performance I am tempted to get another one as a backup.
