Customer Reviews
My son and I are in Scouts and have used this on several occasions. The components are light weight and fairly durable. They take fairly rough use and have some small dents and dings, which are not unusual for the lightweight cookware. The non-stick teflon coating seems durable and has not worn off. We pack a-lot of food inside the nesting cups and also fit our micro camp stove inside. The clear lid is durable and has perforations on one side that are useful for straining. The handle is well made and secures well to the pot and pan. Two of the mugs are insulated and have removable sip-lids that help keep the coffee, hot chocolate and soup warm and prevent you from burning your hands. The other two mugs/containers are not insulated. The set comes in a waterproof bag/pouch that we use for a sink when cleaning the dishes. The only reason we don't give it 5 stars is because we would like to see it a little stronger so it didn't ding as easy. The set is plenty big enough to cook for two hungry guys.
I purchased this cook set in 2009, and have used it 10+ times, including two 5 day backpacking trips in Colorado, a 3 day trip at Dry Tortugas island, and plenty of 1 or 2 night camping trips. The set is fairly lightweight for what it is, and does pretty much anything you would want while backpacking(besides clean itself). Two of the cups come with an insulated cover, and two without. All four seemed to cope well with boiling hot liquids right out of the pot(no melting or scarring of the plastic). The plastic lid included is nice in that it also serves as a strainer for pasta and the like, and does a decent job, though now it doesn't work quite as well it used to(see below). Additionally, the non-stick coating on both pot/pan has held up nicely over the many uses; I haven't noticed any degradation in this aspect, though I do always make sure to use a plastic utensil and no metal when cooking.
First good bonus about this set is that the carrying case has a waterproof inner lining, and as such can be filled with water and used to A)wash the recently used dishes or B) carry water to camp(this came in handy when cleaning some fresh caught trout).
Second bonus is that you can fit spices, salt/pepper shakers, and/or eating utensils inside the set if you have small, backpacking sized utensils. I can fit a small backpacking spatula and two spoons into the space between the four cups, and still get the lid on. Also, you will have three cups you can fill with whatever you like(one will have the folding handle in it).
Here are the few gripes I have:
1) After about a year of use, the main pot began to warp slightly, and the pot lid/strainer no longer fits correctly on top of it.(the pan has not warped so far, only the pot) This causes problems when using the straining function of the lid, as some food occasionally escapes through the gap between the pot ; lid. I have not, however, had any problems with the lid melting, contrary to several reviews I have read. Just make sure and keep the heat source centered directly underneath the pot/pan and it shouldn't be a problem.
2) The pot handle is not as long as I would like, and can heat up to a pretty un-fun temperature while cooking. To avert this, I have tried leaving the handle off until the food was ready and re-attaching it at that time, but it is very difficult to do this while the food is hot, even if you hold the pot with the lid for stability(I do not recommend trying this, you will probably get food/boiling water all over you). If you cook something at a high temperature for a long period, just grab it with something like a towel/cloth. Also, the locking device on the handle does not seem so sturdy(as other reviewers have noted), but it has not caused me any problems with holding the weight of a food-filled pot. Will update if this changes over time.
These small things aside, this set is great and will give you (at least)several years of good service, providing you take care of it.

Enjoy a gourmet feast while camping in the great outdoors with the Bugaboo Backpacker outdoor cookware set. The Bugaboo Backpacker--which stacks conveniently and stores in a welded stuff sack--is fully equipped for the needs of two gourmet backpackers.
The welded stuff sack doubles as a wash basin for easy cleaning. The set starts with two pieces of traditional cookware: a 2-liter pot and an 8-inch frypan, both made using Bugaboo technology. Made of high-quality aluminum, Bugaboo pots and pans are light enough for backpacking, yet heat evenly enough to satisfy the most demanding camp cook. Plus, each piece is fully formed and then coated with two layers of durable nonstick coating for added scratch-resistance. The pot and frypan also share a lid with a built-in strainer and a folding gripper that locks on to the sides to provide a secure handle while cooking.
The tableware steps up when it's time to eat, with two 14-ounce insulated mugs and two 14-ounce bowls. The tableware is made of GSI Outdoors' lightweight, flexible Cascadian material, a chemically inert, BPA-free polypropylene design that remains resilient when exposed to both hot and cold temperatures. Moreover, Cascadian pieces won't absorb food odors like other plastics and are completely recyclable at the end of their service life. As a bonus, the tableware comes with two Sip-It lids to virtually eliminate spills when you're drinking coffee or soda.
The Bugaboo Backpacker's best trait, however, may be its stackable design. The pieces nest together gently and fit inside a rugged stuff sack. Not only does the sack make storage and transport easy, but it also doubles as a sink or washbasin in camp, so you can quickly clean your dishes without hassle.
